Get Signed In
Every researcher needs a key to the Rainforest Research Station. In this mission you will sign in to ArcGIS and arrive at StoryMaps HQ, ready to build.

Pick up your Station login card
Your teacher will hand you a printed Station login card. It holds the two things you need: your username and your password. Keep the card flat on your desk where you can see it.
This card is your key to the station. Don't trade it, and definitely don't feed it to a banana slug.

Open arcgis.com
In your web browser, type arcgis.com in the address bar and press Enter. When the page loads, click Sign In.

Type your username and password
Copy the username from your card exactly as it is printed. Every capital letter and every number matters. Then type the password the same careful way, and sign in.
The letter O and the number 0 can look alike on a printed card. If you are not sure, look closely at your card.

Double-check a failed password
Sometimes sign-in fails on the first try. Look at your card again and check each character: capitals, lowercase letters, and numbers must all match exactly. Retype both boxes slowly. If it still fails after two careful tries, raise your hand and your teacher will help.
Failing once does not mean you broke anything. Careful typing fixes most sign-in problems.

Travel to StoryMaps HQ
In the address bar, type storymaps.arcgis.com and press Enter. Click Sign in using the same username and password from your card. Once you are signed in here, your mission is complete.
You do not need a new account. Your Station card works for both arcgis.com and StoryMaps.

You are signed in and standing at the door of StoryMaps HQ. In Mission 2 you will click Create → Story and start building your very first story.
